iPhone 5 will be launched on november 21st

Latest speculation surrounding the presence of the iPhone 5 sticking again. This time, the fifth generation of Apple's smart phone is claimed to be release on November 21st.

The UK news site T3 Online reports that according to a sales rep. for Brit iPhone reseller Phones4U, the iPhone 5 is expected to be released across the UK on November 21st, the source cited commenting that “iPhone 5 has been delayed until November following an issue with the handset’s software.”

While he was at it, the chatty sales person also said that Apple’s next generation phone, will be pretty much the same as the iPhone 4 but with with new software (presumably the anticipated iOS 5). He’s still calling it iPhone 5, but if his information is accurate, my deduction would be that it lends more credence to the market analyst rumor we reported on last weekend that the next iPhone refresh will be called iPhone 4S, and it doesn’t sound promising for a 4 inch display on the fall release should it materialize (although see the report on a purported new iPhone 5 case design below for a possible contrarian argument).

Now note that the Brit source is calling for a November consumer release in the UK in November, which would not preclude the new model’s unveiling in September after production ramping up as early as July for a somewhat earlier consumer release in the U.S., since stateside customers frequently get first crack at new Apple hardware. Apple’s 2012 fiscal year also starts in October, which could tie into such a hypothetical timeline as well.

Another feature that’s unlikely to show on the new iPhone is probably an RFID near-field communications chip that would let the phone function as a sort of digital credit card. Appleinsider and Business Insider among others are reporting that based on highlights from a highlights from a Bloomberg news feed, Wall Street research firm Bernstein in a Monday note to investors is predicting that Apple will not be including an NFC chip in The iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, or what ever the next iPhone release ends up being called.

On a more positive note, there is a smidge of new evidence of a significant iPhone case redesign, although don’t bet the farm or anything else of value on its accuracy),in the form of a Guangdong, China based iPhone peripherals trading site called AliBaba posting images, specifications and prices for a product it claims is a new design crystal case for iPhone 5G.

This case, which will come in blue, green, yellow,r ed, black, and white, is pitched to wholesale customers, with the minimum order quantity being 1000 units, and the pictures (which are obviously art renderings and not photographs) suggest a larger, edge-to-edge touchscreen display, and the the flash moved from directly beside the rear camera lens to the corner on the other side, which could conceivably be in aid of diminishing the dreaded red-eye effect in snapshots, long known to be exacerbated by close proximity between a camera lens and its flash lens.

However, given the narrow breadth of the iPhone case, it would be unlikely to make a big difference, and the move may just be part of a positional shuffling of internal components.

Comcast has Launched Personal 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot with Xfinity Internet

Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) today announced the launch of its personal 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot, also known as the MiFi® 4082 by Novatel Wireless Inc., that allows users to simultaneously connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the Internet while on-the-go. Sleek and compact in design, the pocket-sized device is a Wi-Fi router that uses Xfinity® Internet 2go service to create a portable Wi-Fi hotspot and provide superfast Internet speeds within a 4G coverage area.

"This new product gives customers the flexibility to instantly create their own secure hotspot everywhere they go," said Tom Nagel, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Services for Comcast. "Consumers want mobile Internet access for Wi-Fi-enabled devices like iPads, laptops and smartphones, and with this offering they can share their connection with family, friends or colleagues and can even watch TV and movies on-the-go."

Comcast's 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot offers a reliable Internet connection and fast download speeds of up to 6 Mbps with 4G service and up to 1.4 Mbps with 3G service. Within the 4G network, which reaches 119 million Americans, the 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot provides superfast 4G speed. Outside of 4G coverage, the device connects to the nationwide 3G network. A rechargeable battery provides hours of Internet access when power outlets are not available. In addition, the device supports industry-standard Wi-Fi security, providing safety for customers since users are prompted to enter their password before being able to connect to a Mobile Hotspot.

The personal 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot is available in Xfinity Internet 2go markets with 4G service, which includes many of the major markets across the U.S. To view a map of areas where customers can use Xfinity Internet 2go and the 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot, visit: http://www.comcast.com/Corporate/Learn/xfinity/4g-3g-wireless-coverage-map.html

New Xfinity Internet 2go customers can get the hotspot for a $25 one-time fee with a qualifying Xfinity Internet 2go service plan.

New versions of Motorola's Atrix will be rolled out as Android "alternatives"

Future versions of Motorola's Atrix smartphone-laptop combo will be rolled out as Android "alternatives" to tablets and other newfangled devices, Motorola's chief executive said this week.

The phone maker's first crack at the Atrix smartphone-laptop convergence wasn't perfect. Some Reviews said the lack of Google's Chrome operating system hurts (Atrix uses a FireFox-centric "Webtop" operating environment). And performance in the laptop configuration (i.e., the 'lap-dock") is sluggish.

But that doesn't mean it's toast, considering all of the praise the Atrix 4G and laptop dock received at CES 2011.

Sanjay Jha, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Mobility, said Thursday there's a lot more to come for Atrix, stating that the device is an "alternative" way of merging mobility (smartphones) and computing (PCs). Code for an alternative to the iPad and other devices that straddle the space between those two established markets.

"In the Android ecosystem, there is a need for us to differentiate," Jha said. "[With] Atrix devices with the Webtop and lap-dock we really think there is an alternative way of viewing the convergence between mobility and computing. And we will continue to focus on that," he said during the earnings conference call, responding to an analyst's question.

Jha continued. "You will see multiple devices from us in the second half...and we will expand the range of our lap-dock devices so we cover a broader price point, addressing both enterprise tiers as well as more consumer tiers."

One intriguing possibility is basing a future Motorola phone on a quad-core processor that when plugged into the laptop dock would provide performance that's a lot closer to a true laptop than current Atrix products.

And this presents broader market potential. For instance, a class of high-end smartphones packing high-performance processors (from Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm) that plug into ultraportable laptop shells.

No, the laptop isn't dead but some interesting variations on the traditional theme are probably in the cards.

LG Optimus 2X listed in the Guinness Book of Records

LG has managed to coerce the venerable Guinness organisation into awarding it a World Record for being the first mobile phone to hit the market with a dual-core processor. They were even awarded a shiny certificate to record their ‘achievement’.

Now we didn’t count LG as Roy Castle and Norris McWhirter fans, but the South Korean giant is obviously desperate to prove they are out looking down on rivals in the processor speed race. They’ll also be equally keen to thumb their noses at their perennial Seoul-based rivals Samsung, who are soon to release their hugely capable Galaxy S 2 dual-core model in the UK.

The flagship Optimus 2X was released here last week at Carphone Warehouse and packs a blazing NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 4.0 Super AMOLED screen and an 8MP camera. The phone boasts Android 2.2, but with all that power at their disposal, new owners will also be hoping for a 2.3 Gingerbread boost in the coming months.

Is this a record worth shouting about or is smartphone success down to far more than processor speed? Only all of you can answer it.

10 Hottest Technologies Latest Days

It is a snapshot of the products igniting the tech world at this moment in time. Much of the gear has just landed or will touch down shortly. But all of it is blowing us away. Hottest 10 Hi-Tech Technologies is all about the products that are the most talked about and anticipated by most all peoples. This list is the most explosive ever.

10. HTC Flyer

HTC is Android's BFF. It was there at the birth Google's mobile OS and the first to overlay it with a more user-friendly interface in the form of sense UI. It's since won favour with critics and consumers alike-three of the five top-selling UK mobiles were HTC's last month-so it's only logical that it's now serving up a Honeycomb tablet. This seven-inch wunderkind wraps an aluminium unibody around a 1024x600-pixel screen and nippy 1.5 GHz processor. Making it useful for more than just browsing and consuming is the smart stylus, which utilises HTC's new Scribe Technology to make time-stamped notes.

9 & 8. LG Optimus 3D and Samsung Galaxy S II

A saturated market had started to leave us wondering where phones could go next, but this brace of dualcore devices from South Korean tech giants point to the smartphone's second coming. LG's effort produces 3DS-style, glasses-free 3D on its massive 4.3-inch display. It can capture and process 3D stills and video too, through twin five-meg cameras.
The Galaxy S II has no gimmicks as imressive as that, but its dualcore processor and full gigabyte of RAM should make downloads, apps, games and HD video unprecedentedly fast and smooth. It's also only 8.49 mm thick and very light to boot. Both mobile use Android, and lay down the gauntlet to Apple. Can iPhone 5 possibly measure up to these super-mobiles?

7. Sony HDR-TD10

Sony realises that the initial success of 3D relies heavily on early adopters making their own eye-popping content. Hence the Bloggie 3D and this, the best-looking 3D camcoder to date (not with standing the fact that Sony appears to have ripped Wall-E's head off in order to build it). Whereas some other 3D cams reduce the resolution by forcing both images through the same sensor and don't allow zooming, the TD10 has two independent HP sensors and a 10x optical zoom. It'll store up to five hours of 1920x1080 3D footage ready to be viewed on the 3.5-inch Xtra Fine LCD display without the need for specs, or on your new 3D TV. You can also watch 3D footage back in full-HD 2D, shoul you be in the shameful situation of lacking a state-of-the-art telly.

6. Motorola Xoom

With Android 3.0 Honeycomb on board, the Xoom makes the first Galaxy Tab and other early Android tablets look a bit Fisher Price. Its crisp, 10.1-inch, widescreen display has a higher resolution than the iPad 2 and provides ample room for myriad apps and self-updating widgets, such as Google Books and the revamped Gmail for mobile. The 1GHz dualcore processor and tabbed web browser give the kind of polished performance it needs to take on iPad 2. Your communication needs are taken care of thanks to Wi-Fi, optional 3G and two cameras-a rear-mounted five-meg/720p HD one and an impressive two-meg/VGA, front-facing webcam. Add Falsh support-it should be here by the time you read this-and you have both a killer Android and the first real iPad rival.

5. Samsung BD-D7500

Following in the footsteps of the DVD players they've superseded. Blu-ray decks have largely been unappetising slabs of black designed to squat under your telly like malevolent metal turds. Not so the wall-mountable, ineffably lovely, very boringly named BD-D7500. The slimmest 3D BD deck money can buy is just 28 mm deep and can upscale 2D to 3D as well as upscaling non-HD materials to 1080p. It also allows you to wirelessly download thousands of movies if you've shelled out for a six-quid lovefilm subscription, as well as DLNA for streaming your own music and movies. Don't hate it for being beautiful.

4. Sony NGP

This is higher up the Hotness Index than arch-rival Nintindo's 3DS because it bypasses gimmicks such as 3D and goes all out for heavyweight specs. The dual joypads finally allow proper control in a games. While a touchscreen and gyroscope give game developers plenty of other options. The quadcore processor allows for, at the very least, PS2-quality games, while the five-inch, 960x544 widescreen should serve as a crystal-clear window onto virtual worlds. Of course it also higher up the Hottest 10 because it won't be out till Christmas. Remember the immutable law of the tech world:perceived hotness is in inverse proportion to the amount of time spent actually using stuff.

3. RIM BlackBerry Playbox

RIM is taking on Apple and the Android brigade with its own OS and the off-putting tagline of "The world's first professional-grade tablet". RIM's punting the Playboox to its traditional business market then, you might think, but twin HD cameras, access to 7 Digital's excellent music store, superb video on the multi-touch, high-res, 1024x600 screen, a web browser with support for flash 10.1 and "hard core gaming" are not the stuff of dry accountancy seminars. With a 1GHz dualcore processor and 1GB of RAM, N Wi-Fi and the promise of 4G access (where avalaible, ie: not here) this thing shoul really fly..

2. Apple iPad 2

And in a lowly conference centre in Cupertino, the new iPad was born unto us. And yea, Apple's saviour who is called Steve Jobs did see fit to bless it with a faster dualcore CPU and the miracle of "nine times faster graphics"-have faith, brothers-HD video recording and cameras both on the front and yea, unto the back. "And lo, "The Jobs proclaimed, "it shalt be 33 per cent thinner, up to 15 per cent lighter, have a slick new OS and shall retain the same teh-hour battery life and price as my last tablet testament."

1. Motorola Atrix 4G

And so, after much heated debate, this year's hottest gadget is a phone. No, a media server. Oh hang on, no, it's a laptop.

Winning nine awards on its unveiling at CES 2011, this leek Android smartphone boasts the same dualcore Nvidia Tegra 2 processor as Moto's Xoom (#6), 1 GB of a RAM and a four-inch, 960x540 screen. Despite that, it's lighter than the iPhone 4 at 135 g.

That's impressive, if not exceptional-witness the Samsung Galaxy S-but the USP that's grabbed the world's tech heads' attention is its unprecendented versatility and potential to transform a product category, The Atrix, which will be launched exclusively on Orange, can be hooked up to ahost of peripherals via its multimedia dock. Three USBs let you add a keyboard and mouse, while an HDMI output lets you use your TV as a screen, turning the Atrix into a media computer and mini set-top box.

Add Motorola's Lapdock and it becomes an 11.6-inch laptop with eight hours of battery life. We're so excited about it all thet we've run out of room to talk about the 1080p camera, the 4G-readiness, the 16 GB of storage, and the fingerprint scanner.

Tips of Buying and Using iPad 2

- The "3G" models of the iPad 2 are avalaible in separate versions for Verizon (which uses a CDMA network) and AT&T (which uses a GSM network). Decide which network you want to use first, and then buy the appropriate version. They are not interchangeable!
- The personal hotspot feature in iOS 4.3 requires an approriate contract from your wireless provider. Make sure you really want it before spending the extra money on the contract.
- The white version of the iPhone has been delayed repeteadly, allegedly because the white casing allowed too much light inside the device, affecting the camera. You might want to wait until users comment on whether or not this is a real problem before you buy a white model.
- Your existing iPad's case may not accommodate the iPad 2 because the latter is thinner and has a flatter back. If it does actually fit, you might use a hole punch on the back of the case to provide a camera opening. Take time to line this up correctly before punching.
- The front-facing camera is VGA quality. If you want to take higher-quality photos, use the rear-facing camera.
- Many of the features, thet were announced will also work with you older iPad, so it's not agiven that you have to upgrade. If you're satisfied with your original iPad and don't need cameras, FaceTime, and mirroring, maybe you can sit this one out.
- The original iPad has been out one year. Apple's product schedules are pretty regular, so expect an iPad 3 to be announced in another with other enhancements like more memory and a Retina Display. If you already have an iPad, do you need to upgrade every year, or is every other year going to give you more bang for your buck?
In addition to cellular data, the 3G models have assisted GPS. If you plan to use location-aware apps, even if you don't plan to use a 3G data plan, you may want the 3G version.

How to sell your old iPad?
If you have an original iPad and plan to upgrade to an iPad 2, you have several options. You could always hand it down to a famiy member or try to sell it via eBay or Craigslist, but you might want to avoid the hassle and uncertainty. Several firms are willing to buy your used gear outright, including Gazelle.com, SellYourMac.com, FullCircleWireless.com, e-Cycle.com, and UsedHandhelds.com.

T-Mobile upgrades 4G network for speedier downloads

T-Mobile is announcing an impressive-sounding upgrade to its 4G network and T-Mobile customers in Las Vegas, New York, and Orlando will be the first to benefit from it.

Apparently the carrier will be doubling the speed of its 4G network and offering theoretical download speeds of 42 Mbps (megabits per second) — oh yes, that's pretty darn fast. How fast? An average song is about 5 megabytes, and an average movie about 750 megabytes, so at 42 MBps, that'd be 7 seconds to download Lady Gaga's latest hit or 16 minutes to grab a quality version of "You've Got Mail."

After the cities mentioned above, the upgrade will be made in Chicago, Long Island and Northern New Jersey.

By mid-2011, T-Mobile hopes to bring the faster speeds to 140 million American customers. The announcement was tied to the spring CTIA Wireless trade industry show this week in Orlando, Fla.

While making these upgrades to its network, T-Mobile will also be offering a new 4G Mobile Hotspot — which will allow customers to connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the 4G network — as well as a series of new 4G laptop sticks including the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 which will be the first laptop stick capable of taking advantage of the new 42 Mbps speeds.

World's First 3D Mobile Phone Unveiled By LG

The Details

1). DUAL CAMERAS:The Optimus 3D can shoot 1080p 2D video, 720p 3D video and five-meg 3D stills

2). Mini HDMI
Blurts the 3D footage you've taken into your 3D TV, in 720p HD resolution

3). 3D Button
Hit this to access apps, games and other 3D services on the phone

This year, 3D is moving from the big screen to the small. with Nintindo's 3DS-see p32- and now LG's Optimus 3D, "glasses-free autostereoscopy" looks set to be the most difficult-to-spell-and-pronounce buzz phrase of 2011.

The Optimus 3D's spec is a cut above: big, 4.3-inch touchscreen; fast, dual-core processor, HDMI and Android 2.2, with an upgrade to 2.3 impending. It's the 3D that really sets it apart, though. as with the 3DS, the viewing "sweet spot" is narrow, but once your eyes adjust to Asphalt Origins the gaming experience is quite enveloping. The Optimus 3D also captures 720p 3D video and snaps 3D stills on dual five-meg cameras. Best of all, LG's partnership with Youtube means you can access 3D video and upload your own footage.

LG Thrill 4G and HTC HD7S are new phones for AT&T US

AT&T announced today that it will be converting two well-known devices to its lineup and making them 4G-capable. Those are the HTC HD7 and LG Optimus 3D. Keep in mind that in this case 4G refers to HSPA+ 21Mbps, not the real-deal LTE. Still we guess there will be many people willing to buy either.

The two smartphones are also getting new names. HTC HD7 gets an "S" to its name - HTC HD7S. And the LG Optimus 3D will be LG Thrill 4G. Pretty much nothing else is changed. The HD7S has the same 4.3-inch LCD display, 5 megapixel snapper and Windows Phone 7 OS, as highlights. The LG Thrill 4G has the same 4.3-inch stereoscopic display, dual-core 1GHz processor, Android 2.2 and dual 5-megapixel camera with 3D capturing capabilities both in stills and video. The LG features 1080p output regular video and 720p 3D video. With the LG Thrill 4G AT&T will also debut the LG 3D Space, which will have 3D content, such as games, video and images.

It isn't quite sure whether the 3D Space will be a service only through AT&T or it will be available worldwide. HTC's HD7S will be coming in the weeks to follow, while the LG Thrill 4G will be released by AT&T in the months to come. Exact dates aren't given though.

New Google phone uses Sprint's super fast 4G network

Whether you're an Android fanboy (or girl) or not, it's tough to avoid drooling over the Nexus S 4G. The device has similar specs to its T-Mobile counterpart — the Nexus S — but it will take advantage of Sprint's super fast 4G data network.

The new smartphone will run Google's Android 2.3 operating system — better known as Gingerbread — and have a "1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC (near field communication) hardware that lets you read information from everyday objects that have NFC tags."

The Nexus S 4G will be available in the spring (that's as specific as Sprint got) and at that point can be purchased online and in-store from Sprint retailers and Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores in the U.S. It will be priced at $199.99 (with a new two-year service agreement).

Wi-Fi-only Xoom launching March 27 for $599

It took a while for Motorola Mobility to confirm it, but the Wi-Fi-only Xoom is now official.

On March 27, the tablet will launch in the U.S. for $599, Motorola Mobility announced today. The device will feature the same 10.1-inch display as its 3G-equipped counterpart. It will also come with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, 32GB of onboard storage, and a 1GHz dual-core processor.

Motorola Mobility currently offers a 3G version of the Xoom that retails for $799.99 without a contract and $599.99 with a two-year commitment with Verizon Wireless.

With the upcoming launch of the Wi-Fi-only Xoom, Motorola Mobility is taking a page out of Apple's book. Apple, which released the iPad 2 last week, offers both Wi-Fi-only and 3G models. Pricing for the Wi-Fi-only iPad 2 starts at $499 for 16GB of storage. The 32GB model, which might be the best comparison to the Wi-Fi-only Xoom, retails for $599.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks now that Motorola would be launching a Wi-Fi-only version of the Xoom. Earlier this month, photos leaked of a Wi-Fi-only-Xoom display at a Sam's Club. The photos suggested that the retailer, which is owned by Walmart, would be selling the Xoom for $539. That report was followed up earlier this week by a leaked flyer from Staples that turned out to be spot-on--it was promoting the Wi-Fi-only Xoom retailing for $599 and launching on March 27.

According to Motorola Mobility, both Staples and Sam's Club will be among retailers selling the Wi-Fi-only Xoom in-store and online when the tablet launches. They will be joined by Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, and Walmart.

The Upcoming Verizon Wireless: iPhone 5 Coming July 2011

The iPhone 5 built for 4G is COMING!!!

Lots of speculation is going around on the new iPhone 5... in HD!!

Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 and 5 and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iphone to their network. The new iPhone 5 is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat on 3g and 4g (no longer restricted to WiFi only), face recognition and extreme downloading. (List of possible features below). Just when you think there is nothing else to come up with, more and more and more technology comes out. And it is on the rise, and not just at Apple, Inc!

This iPhone 5 will have dual core processors and higher and powerful graphic chips that can deliver higher video resolutions and better "still" images when taking pictures, AND it will make multi-tasking a breeze.

There are a few networks working on building a 4G network. T-mobile would be a likely carrier since they are GSM already. Sprint has a 4G network already... AT&T and Verizon Wireless are in the beginning stages. There are talks of Verizon Wireless getting iPhone sometime in 2010 but it looks like they will get it for sure in 2011 when the new iPhone 5 comes out.

Whether or not it will be 4G will be up to them!... can they build in time? They will definitely have the 3G version of iPhone, but with the new iPhone 5 (4g speeds) coming out, will they compete?! Regardless, there is much anticipation on how many people will leave AT&T for Verizon Wireless because of AT&T's lagging on app restrictions like Slingplayer and Google Voice and Skype (on 4g network, not Wi-Fi).

AT&T's restrictions have caused the percentage of people that are JailBreaking their iPhones to rise since Jail Breaking usually comes with Cydia which is the app store for jail broken phones. Most of the applications, ringtones, and even iphone themes!...are free with Cydia. Winterboard is part of the download, and it very easily add's the changes to your phone so you dont have to figure how to do it on your own...it is VERY automated.

The Palm Pre on Sprint and HTC EVO (Sprint now offering a 4G network) has made an attempt at being competitive with iPhone and Blackberry...and it seems they are making head way, although with the iPhone 4 released and the iPhone 5 on the way, they are sure to lose. Oh ya, the Blackberry Torch? = Nice try... but that browser is NOT full HTML.

iPhone 5 looks promising in terms of being sleek, packed with new hardware and finally less restrictions. Very exciting.

A few features of iPhone 5:

Thinner! With shiny glass back piece - 9.3 mm thick.

Face Recognition Security

Face Time (Video Chat) access on 3G AND 4G (available currently but only on 3G)

Custom SMS tones

Custom E-mail alerts with ability to assign different tones to each email address

A new, sleeker body design.

OLED screen.

Scratch proof and shatter proof screen

Wireless sync with iTunes

32G (basic) and 64G of memory. You're sure to never run out.

Extended battery life = 14 hours talk time on 3G and 7 hours on 4G. Standby 600 hours.

Hi Definition audio.

Messaging indicator light.

True GPS built in.

Samsung Galaxy Tab's WiFi-only Version rumored to cost $399, arrive on April 4th

Shocking as it might be, we still haven't had a Galaxy Tab from Samsung that rocks nothing but the WiFis, though that seems about to finally change. The 3G-deprived 7-inch Tab, promised for Q1 2011, has slipped on its schedule a little and looks set to now hit retail in the first week of April, at the admittedly appealing price of $399. Now, we all know the tablet market of April 2011 is shaping up to be extremely rich on machines with high specs, large screens and inflated opinions of themselves, but there could still be a fine little niche for an affordable, well built slate, even if it does only run on Froyo.

Google Brings Useful Features to Mobile

We've never had a use for Google Instant Search on mobile, so we didn't expect much when Google's Instant Previews invaded the smartphone realm as well. You know what? They're actually surprisingly useful. Instead of trying to cram additional information into Google's already-crowded mobile website, Instant Previews adds a little magnifying glass next to most every result instead, and clicking on the magnifier brings up a series of cached thumbnails of each page that you can scroll through in portrait or landscape modes. It's a very visual way of finding what you're looking for, and more importantly, it's quick even over 3G, saving time and mobile bandwidth that would otherwise be spent clicking through links one by one. Rather than decipher that long-winded explanation, though, why don't you try it out for yourself or watch our video demonstration after the break?

Say Hello to Superphone: LG Optimus 2X, More than Smartphone

You're reading the wonderful hi-tech gadget blog, so chances are you have a smartphone and already use it to browse the web, email, use apps, play games and enjoy music and video. And we're willing to bet that every once in a while it struggles to cope, especially if you try and do too many things at once-they're tasks that were once the reserve of PCs, after all. But patchy performance isn't a good look, which is why LG has crammed a 1 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor into the new Optimus 2X. Why dual-core? Simple, just as two brains are better than one, two cores spread the load and are able to process data faster and more efficiently-that's why PC processors are now mainly multi-core. In a phone, the result is even more impressive: the Optimus 2x is simply faster and more powerful than any other handset on the market.

Read on for the lowndown on the Optimus 2X and its tech spec, and if you're in the mood for some serious tech talk, chek out our panel on dual core processing...
